RDCK to explore food security council

A potential new regional food policy council should be a partner with the government.

This from Aimee Watson, director for rural Kaslo.

She says RDCK staff are in the application process to get funding from the Community Food Action Initiative to help gauge how the group would be structured.

Watson says the government should be involved with the group, but not as a leader.

A regional food policy council would monitor and promote local food production and distribution.
