Police board seeks legal fees from ex-cop

A former Nelson police officer is being asked to reimburse the city for legal fees paid in his assault case.

Cst. Drew Turner resigned early this year following his conviction.

Mayor and police board chair Deb Kozak says she can’t disclose the amount they’re seeking.

Kozak says they’ve sent turner a letter and will see what happens.

Turner was sentenced to 30 days house arrest and one year of probation for striking a woman while off duty in 2014.
