Business community mourns Danny Rickaby

One of the mainstays of Nelson’s business community has died.

Danny Rickaby passed away Saturday in Kootenay Lake Hospital after a stroke. He was 58.

Chamber of Commerce past president Cal Renwick says Rickaby was a civic booster.

Rickaby, who was originally from Alberta, came to Nelson in 1993 and opened Rickaby’s Restaurant, which is now Jackson’s Hole.

Since 2000 he was owner-operator of the Adventure Hotel, formerly known as the Lord Nelson and New Grand.

He also served on many community and provincial industry boards.

He’s survived by his wife Joanne, and sons Chase, Clay and Addison.

In a prepared statement, current chamber president Ed Olthof said Rickaby “will be remembered for his enthusiastic spirit, big personality, his business savvy and mentorship, and his love for family and friends.”
