Nelson’s Civic Theatre Society is the biggest winner in this year’s Columbia Basin Trust funding from the city.
Council has recommended they receive $20,000 through the community initiatives program.
Executive director Eleanor Stacey says it’ll help pay for two components of their stage improvement project.
The other component is a smaller projector.
Other big grants included $17,000 to the Izushi friendship society for gates and lighting at Cottonwood Falls Park, and $10,000 to the Chamber of Commerce to develop a plaza at the visitor centre.
In all, council earmarked over $145,000 for numerous projects this week.
