Nelson public works crews are seen above clearing debris built up in the Anderson Creek grate at 9th St. and Elwyn St. as a result of higher creeks flows.
Due to the hazards related to working near fast and high flowing streams, Nelson Fire and Rescue Services belayed the worker as a safety precaution.
The city is urging residents to stay away from creek banks, which can be unstable due to high water. That goes for pets too, who can easily be swept away in fast-moving water.
Stream flows are expected to increase in the coming days due to warm weather.
