Police deal with fights, drunk drivers, transients

The Nelson Police Department has been dealing with an increase in calls over the past week.

They’ve had a number of complaints about transients camping in the city and leaving behind debris.

There’s also been a noticable increase in impaired driving resulting in a number of vehicles being seized and licenses suspended.

Additionally police been dealing with a number of people using drugs and alcohol downtown.

Yesterday they responded to a pair of fights.

In one instance a knife was used and a man was cut.

The other brew-ha-ha was a consensual fight between two drunk men and won’t result in any charges.
