Rossland’s Sustainability Commission has high hopes from the new city council.
Chair Terry Miller says their three task forces – which include energy, economic development and innovative education – often didn’t get the full ear of the last council.
Some of the ideas being floated for this year include alternative energy generation like geo-thermal, micro-hydro and solar.
Rossland’s homeowner Energy Diet Retrofit Program was a huge success a few years ago and may expand to city-owned and commercial buildings next.
There are also plans to launch new educational courses to help make the alpine city a destination for learning.
