Smoke prevents air support

BC Wildfire crews continue to hope for a sizeable shift in the weather to clear smoke and allow aircraft to get into the skies.

This as the Stickpin Wildfire south of the border is around 4.5km away from the communities on the southern edge of Grand Forks and Christina Lake.

Evacuation alerts are in place for some parts because of the risk of flying embers from the US blaze.

Fire Information Officer Fanny Bernard says yesterday saw no aerial activity.

The smoke is not just coming from the stickpin fire but the other massive Complex Fire in Washington State.

BC ground crews on the northern flank of the fire continue to build machine guards and establish hose lay to work on burning out some fuel.
