Hospital Director supports capital reserve decision

The Hospital District Director for Kootenay Lake’s East Shore says the Board made the right call this week.
They’ll put away another two million dollars on top of the 5.7 million already accumulated in a capital reserve.
Garry Jackman made the original motion to create the fund three years ago and still thinks it’s a good idea.  He thinks the $2-million is consistent because continuing to build the reserve sends a message to the province that if they want to put up money for something in the long term, then we’re ready to do that.
Interior Health indicated this week any major regional planning process is still two to three years away.
But they are studying upgrades to the Trail Hospital.
