Nelson rec plan headed for public input

Public meetings are coming up next month on the future of Nelson’s recreation facilities.
Regional district community services manager Joe Chirico says it’s to gather input on a new master plan.
He says they need to start marrying what the public wanted to see with financial reality.
The most pressing issue is $4.5 million worth of upgrades planned for the aquatic centre.
The meetings will also introduce the concept of a community recreation campus.
That’s the city-owned block that includes the pool, arena, curling club, and indoor soccer field.
