Drones will soon be put to use helping battle forest fires in our region.
The BC Wildfire Service is incorporating them into their fire line operations.
Information Officer Erin Catherall says recent trials have proved they are safer than piloted aircraft.
Catherall says they can also create high definition maps and perform infrared scans at night.
However, she says flying an unauthorised drone near a wildfire is still prohibited.
