There are now two female fire chiefs in the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
Nora Hannon has been appointed to head up the Balfour-Harrop department after five years as deputy.
She says she’s never had any problem in a traditionally male-dominated profession.
Hannon says about one-third of the Balfour department’s 27 members are women.
She joins Stephanie Whitney who became the chief of the Winlaw department this year.
Monica Spencer is also acting chief in Beasley.
