Nelson church calls for dialogue on ‘economic justice’

The Nelson United Church is calling on city council to start a community dialogue.

Morgan Gould says they’re concerned about housing affordability and income disparities.

Gould says they don’t want to point fingers, but they are concerned about the poor and the homeless being marginalized.

Pastor David Boyd says it would be more than a town hall meeting.

They say economic growth has to be governed by community values and a recent full-page ad taken out by downtown businesses points to an erosion of those values.
