Community conversation planned on fentanyl

Nelson’s fentanyl task force will hold what’s being billed as a community conversation a week from today.

Selkirk College nursing instructor Tammy McLean says a seven-member panel will discuss the opioid crisis in our region.

Panelists will include a nurse practitioner, a mental health educator, and people with personal experiences.

They’re part of a task force that Nelson’s police chief has assembled.

McLean says fentanyl is taking a terrible and deadly toll.

Opioids have claimed more than 1,100 lives in BC this year.

McLean says one of their goals is to reduce the stigma around the subject.

The event is at the Hume Hotel next Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
