Kootenay Lake water monitoring project receives funding boost

The Kootenay Centre for Forestry Alternatives is continuing their water monitoring project.

The society has been looking at stream flow into north side of Kootenay Lake.

They’ve recently received a $20,000 grant from the Kootenay Lake Local Conservation Fund.

Director Greg Utzig says they want to see how stream flow will be affected by climate change.

The society has been working on the project for five years – Utzig says they’re looking to gather at least 20 years of data.

Part of the funding they’ve received will go towards producing an interim report of their findings.
