The City of Nelson will feel the effects of the NDP’s new Payroll Tax next year.
Chief Financial Officer Colin McClure says it was a nice break in 2018 to have MSP premiums cut in half, but in 2019 the City will have to work around paying the 1.95 per cent Payroll Tax in addition to half of MSP premiums.
McClure hopes the NDP will reconsider its plans.
For 2018, McClure said the City is doing well financially, despite this year’s three per cent tax increase being above inflation rates.
McClure says the additional funds are needed for capitol projects.
