Nelson Innovation Centre receives $100,000 grant

Nelson Creston MLA Michelle Mungall was in Nelson yesterday for a funding announcement.

Commnity Futures is receiving $100,000 for the Nelson Innovation Centre from the BC Rural Dividend grants.

Mungall says it’s a very worthy project.

Executive Director for the Chamber of Commerce Tom Thomson says the centre would boost the Kootenay’s reputation in the growing teck sector.

The Innovation Centre will provide programming, resources, and mentorship for entrepreneurs and businesses.

Currently, there are a number of possible locations being considered and the hope is to have it open for the fall.
