Nelson’s new FrontCounter BC has grand opening

Nelson area residents won’t have to travel to Castlegar anymore for certain permits and licenses anymore. Nelson has its own FrontCounter BC office now, located on the fourth floor at 333 Victoria Street. Front Counter BC provides a single place to get help with licences, permits, and registrations to use the province’s natural resources. Garth Wiggill, regional executive director with the Ministry of Forests, says it provides a variety of new services.

Wiggill says the doors opened about a month ago. Thursday was the official ribbon cutting ceremony with Nelson Creston MLA Michelle Mungall in attendance. Mungall says the province has been rolling out the FrontCounter BC offices since 2007 as it was proved to be best practice in terms of service model.

There are three other locations in the Kootenays including Castlegar, Revelstoke, and Cranbrook.
