Nelson’s Point in Time Count happens Wednesday

Nelson is one of 61 cities across Canada holding a point in time count tomorrow. It’s the smallest community conducting a 24 hour snapshot of what homelessness looks like in the city. Coordinator Dylan Griffith says 70 volunteers will be out talking to people.

He says the information will help both at the local and national levels.

The last point in time count in 2016 found 116 people experiencing some type of homelessness in Nelson. Griffith says they’ll issue an initial release on Thursday with a longer report to come in June.
