Yellowstone to Yukon is a conservation initiative aiming to protect and connect habitat, which includes the Kootenays. Their chief scientist Jodi Hilty will be speaking in Nelson tomorrow. She is the leading scientist in the field of landscape ecology, habitat connectivity and large mammals and it’s her first time in Nelson. Y2Y’s BC and Yukon Director, Candace Batycki says the event looks at conservation for the whole area and regionally as well.
Batycki says it’s also about getting people engaged in conservation efforts.
The event is at the United Church from 7:00-8:30pm.
