Nelson will be hosting professionals from all over to discuss climate change and wildfires next month. The conference will look at some strategies that are being done internationally and locally on these issues. Conference planner Avery Deboer-Smith says there’s some workshops open to private land owners that will look at different Wildfire Urban Interface treatment sites.
Deboer-Smith says one of the speakers is from the Columbia Basin Trust’s Climate Action Program.
It’s called the Wildfire and Climate Change Conference and is organized by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development and the Slocan Integral Forestry Cooperative. It runs June 26-28.
