Water Quality Advisory issued for Nelson

A Water Quality Advisory has been issued in Nelson. The City of Nelson, in consultation with the Interior Health Authority, say water quality is fair. With spring run-off there’s increased turbidity or cloudiness in the drinking water.

Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection, drink boiled or bottled water. Water should be boiled for at least a minute before drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth. You can also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.

The City of Nelson is taking additional measures to reduce risk and will let the public know when water quality has improved.
