One of Nelson’s 21 council hopefuls running in the municipal election is Robbie Kalabis. He’s a born Nelsonite and has lived in the Queen City for over 30 years.
Kalabis explains why he’s running. “I’d love to see a lot of the things that make Nelson what it is continue to thrive, as well as to find efficiencies and ways to make Nelson as livable a city as it could be for everybody that lives here.”
Kalabis would bring to the table over 10 years of experience in project management, delivering highway improvements. He says he wants to ensure Nelson’s infrastructure and facilities are in good repair now and for the future, while taking a hard look at fair taxation and fees.
Kalabis has also served as an auxiliary member of the Nelson Fire Department for five years and a volunteer on the North Shore Fire Department for over two years.
