Starting next week, the outpatient lab at Victorian Community Health Centre in Kaslo will begin seeing patients on a first come, first served drop-in basis. Patients will no longer need to book an appointment through the health centre to have their outpatient lab work done.
The lab will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7:30 AM to noon for blood collection and from noon to 12:30 p.m. for Holter (heart monitoring) testing. Patients will take a number when they arrive at the lab and be seen in the order they arrive.
Interior Health says this change and increasing lab hours has been done to improve overall access to local lab services. It takes effect February 19.
Lab service was traditionally offered from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
