The 7th Annual Carver Award will be handed out this July at Nelson’s Elephant Mountain Literary Festival. Emerging West Kootenay writers can be nominated until May 17.
Criteria includes having one to two books published, or an equivalent body of work published in anthologies or literary journals. The award comes with a $500 cash prize and the Nelson and District Arts Council is the primary sponsor. Richard Carver was a lover of the arts and the Kootenays, and has been described as a mover and shaker on Arts Council board.
He passed away in 2009.
