Slow turnaround for legal weed license has business owner concerned

NELSON, B.C – A nelson dispensary owner is concerned that there are no physical weed stores in Nelson while tourism season is in full swing.
Jim Leslie has been waiting for his retail license to come through, but says he hasn’t heard any updates since February, when he was told the criminal background check he submitted was approved.
However, according to Jim Leslie, it has not been signed off on, which is the necessary step before the facilities are to be inspected and put in compliance with government rules.

Now, Leslie says he hopes for a resolution.
“I think for a lot of people who are looking to move forward in the process it is a concern”, he says, while expressing gratitude for being allowed to stay open and serve medical patients.
Currently his shop, as well as Leaf Cross on Baker Street are the only two physical where customers can access cannabis in Nelson, but only after presenting medical documentation.
