Nelson SPCA in great need of foster homes for cats

NELSON, B.C. – The Nelson SPCA is in dire need of foster homes for cats and is now calling out for help.

They have maxed out all foster homes for pregnant cats and orphaned kittens, and the branch shelter currently has 16 cats waiting for adoption, including a female cat about to give birth.
At least two more are needed.
Branch manager Glenda George says she isn’t sure why they are having such problems finding volunteers to care for a cat while waiting for adoption.

“They do not realize that we provide all of the food, the litterboxes and litter, scratching posts, bedding, and veterinary care. It is really no cost, just a bit of monitoring and cleaning, and making sure the cat thrives”, she told MyNelsonNow.com.

The summertime with planned vacations gets in the way and makes it tricky for the SPCA to attract foster homes.
But, says Glenda George:
“We are flexible we will try and make arrangements to find another foster or bring them into the shelter”
