Rash of thefts from cars in Uphill prompts warning from Nelson police

NELSON, B.C. – Lock your cars, says the Nelson Police Department after a string of thefts in Uphill leaves car owners robbed of items left in the cars.

Sergeant Dan Markovich says lately at least a couple of calls per day have come into the station after items have gone missing from cars.
A similar warning was issued in Trail recently after a similar string of thefts.
However, Nelson police say thefts tend to move around to different areas.
“And right now it’s Uphill”, Markovich says.

“The Nelson Police Department would like to remind the public to ensure vehicles are secure and that all valuables are removed or hidden from sight. These criminal acts are opportunistic in nature and vehicle owners
can take preventative measures to minimize these incidents”, the department writes in a news release.
