A Nelson city councillor wants a ban on electronic cigarettes in public buildings and the workplace.
Robin Cherbo – who is a staunch anti smoking advocate- is citing a recent report by the World Health Organisation.
It says toxins and second-hand nicotine vapour from the devices is still an unknown health risk and governments should consider regulation.
We asked Cherbo if society should go a little easier on e-cigarette users because many people are trying to quit conventional cigarettes.
Cherbo wants his proposal for a workplace ban put to a council vote.
