NCOH decries service cuts at local support offices

The Nelson Committee on Homelessness is voicing its strong opposition to the decrease in open hours at the province’s Income Assistance office in the Queen City.

The office has reduced its accessibility to only three hours each weekday – 1pm to 4 pm.

Community Coordinator for the committee Ann Harvey says that puts people at risk.

The office not only serves individuals applying for welfare and Persons with Disability benefits but gives access to low income people that need a computer or phone.
