Spring-like rains increase creek/river risk:RDCK

We’re getting spring freshet conditions …and potential risks …in December.

That’s part of the message from the RDCK’s Regional Fire Chief Terry Swan with all this rain falling on ground that is still frozen from the cold snap last month.

…and he says this could result in some minor slides, or natural occurring dams from fallen debris.

If anyone notices particularly muddy creeks or reduced flow this could be a danger sign.

They are asked to call the provincial emergency number which is staffed 24/7.

It is 1-800-663-3456.
