No direct support from GF council for medical cannabis store

Grand Forks city council has decided not to offer their support “in principal” to the local unlicensed medical cannabis store that has been selling product to their members.

The outlet has now stopped doing that after RCMP received complaints and warned they could face charges.

Councillor Julia Butler says council has decided to contact the Feds.

Currently the medical marijuana laws do not include cannabis derivatives like creams and oils which were being sold by the Grand Forks outlet Kootenays Medicine Tree.

Butler says council’s position is that everyone has the right to access whatever they feel is the best medicine for them. But she adds the RCMP are only doing their job in enforcing the Federal laws.
