The South East Fire Centre has issued a warning about open burning saying grass lands can be very flammable at the moment.
The unseasonable temperatures mean we’re seeing a lot of rural folks doing their Spring burns early this year.
That has the Deputy Fire Chief in Grand Forks Kevin McKinnon reminding people of precautions and regulations- especially for fires more than 0.2 hectares.
McKinnon says you also need to check the venting index and if it’s poor then you can not burn.
Open burning is banned in several cities in our region.
