Kootenay Lake kokanee meeting tonight

Local anglers and tourism operators can learn more about management plans for the recovery of Kootenay Lake kokanee Monday night.

A public meeting co-hosted by the Province and the Balfour and District Business & Historic Association goes 7pm to 9pm at the Balfour Community Hall.

Significant declines of kokanee have been detected in Kootenay Lake.

The number of the fish that survive to spawn naturally were at a 51 year low last fall at just 150,000.

Fishing regulation changes came into effect April 1st this year that reduced the quota from 15 per day to none.
