The Nelson Civic Theatre Society is expected to present a revised application plan Monday night for a federal Canada 150 grant.
This after their first phase concept for a multi-million-dollar digital conference and learning centre was rejected by council last week.
One of the four councillors who opposed – Janice Morrison -figures things were moving just too fast.
Other concerns from council included the long term sustainability of a conference space, the society’s ability to raise their own dollars, and the design of the planned concourse.
The society had proposed building a $1.6 million first floor concourse that could access all future movie theatres and other spaces in the 80-year old city-owned site.
The city would contribute $850,000 while the society would raise it’s own money for the second movie house.
