UBC sets up teacher program in Nelson

The next chapter for a landmark building on Nelson’s Baker Street will be in the educational field.

The main floor of the former Nelson Daily News building has been leased by UBC for its long-standing West Kootenay Teacher Education Program.

Dr Wendy Carr is the director of teacher education at UBC Vancouver.

The teacher program will start late August.

For the last 26 years it has been based out of Selkirk College in Castlegar with about 30 students graduating each year.
