Castlegar ahead on contamination reporting

High praise from the City of Castlegar’s financial auditor.

Audit Insurance Partner Don Simpson presented last year’s financial audit to Council this week.

He’s pointed out two upcoming requirements for communities in Canada and how Castlegar has been proactive in doing that.

The issue for 2015 is communities must identify contaminated sites that are no longer in use and report any liabilities in their financial statements.

Simpson says he is using Castlegar’s data collection as a leading example across B.C.
