GF files to court in Butler conflict case

The legal wheels are turning in Grand Forks council’s attempt to have councillor Julia Butler removed from office for conflict of interest and breach of oath.

The city says legal papers to the Supreme Court were filed Tuesday and Butler would be served notice within 7 days.

Butler has refuted the allegations and says she hopes the Supreme Court rejects the application so she can demand a full apology from council.

The controversy surrounds water meters although the city has not formally said what the conflict of interest is.
