A local environmental group is fully behind a proposed Nelson community Solar Garden – or solar array.
David Reid with the West Kootenay Eco Society knows the pilot project for Nelson won’t be a major power producer but it’s a very important part of combating climate change.
Nelson Hydro will need residents to invest up-front in the solar plant which could cost about $400,000 and may be situated in Bonnington.
Those residents would then get a credit on their regular hydro bill.
Council is expected to sign off on the concept soon.
