Lifesaver:man cut and pulled from burning car

A team effort on Highway 3 near the Bombi summit saved the life of a man who’s SUV had flipped and hit the rock wall.

Salmo construction worker Jacob Waterstreet was the first person to see it. But he and others quickly faced a problem with the car’s engine on fire.

Eventually a knife was found and the man was freed just before the car burst into flames.

Waterstreet says he’s now better prepared for future incidents after getting a special gift on Father’s Day.

He says everyone who stopped tried to help out including offering first-aid and blankets.
