Rossland to throttle back

The pace in Rossland is set to go a lot slower.

Council has voted for across-the-board speed limit reductions.

Councillor Aaron Cosbey says the overall general speed limit will come down from 40 kmh to 30 kmh and down from 30 to 20 in school zones.

He says Rossland’s narrow streets, with few driveways and sidewalks makes things challenging for everyone.

Cosbey says just having bylaws on speed does nothing to change driver habits so this will need to be backed up with signage and public education.

Some particularly tricky hot-spots in town will also see reductions to 20 kmh.
