Kettle River levels prompt drought preparedness call

A leading local authority on the Kettle River says he’ll be reaching out to stakeholders given the very dry conditions.

Graham Watt -the coordinator for the RDKB’s Kettle River Watershed Management Plan – says the current levels are their lowest since 1992 and the 4th lowest since records began.

He wants to start a conversation about preparing for possible drought if things stay this way for the coming weeks.

Watt says community leaders too should be armed with options on water restrictions and how residents can be ready to tackle a drought.
