Don’t assume someone else has already called in a possible wildfire.

This from the South East Fire Centre as we gear up for a very hot and dry weekend with temperatures forecast to hit plus 40.

Fire Information Officer Fanny Bernard says if you see smoke …call.

The call number is *5555 on most cell phones.

The fire danger rating is currently “moderate” for most of our area but “high” in and around Grand Forks, Fruitvale and northern Arrow Lake.

Bernard says the danger ratings could rise.
