SD8 needs time to allocate courses/teachers for 2015-16

The Kootenay Lake school district still needs time to finalize their timetable and that may not happen till September.

This from Superintendent Jeff Jones in response to concerns being raised in local media by some parents.

They figured several popular courses like Spanish, Foods and Communications had been cancelled because no teachers have yet been assigned. Jones says there has been some unfortunate misinformation.

The lack of assigned teachers in some cases is because these courses were previously taught by teachers on term contracts that have now ended.

He says once enrolment numbers are in – which are expected to be about 40 less at LVR than this year – the district will identify student needs and finalize staffing levels.
