The Nelson and District Teachers Association says a projected enrolment decline appears to be resulting in a shortfall of two full-time teachers (equivalent) for next year.
President Paul Boscariol says up to a dozen courses haven’t been assigned teachers yet.
But he adds the union was told staffing would be kept at status quo going into the next school year.
The school district says some courses haven’t been assigned yet because they were previously taught by teachers on term contracts that have now ended.
They says once final student numbers are determined they’ll hire accordingly.
