Nelson Chamber applauds Lakeside clean-up

Nelson’s popular Canada Day celebrations went off with barely a hint of the devastation evident just 36 hours before.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tom Thomson says it was amazing to see what the clean-up crews did at Lakeside when you consider the scene after Monday’s huge storm.

Lakeside Park was sealed off for safety checks and clean-up Tuesday after large trees and limbs were ripped away.

Canada Day in Nelson is a major event on the calendar that brings in families far and wide for the day-long entertainment and evening fireworks.

It has spin-offs for local businesses too.
