Nelson council to vote on solar approval

Nelson council will vote on whether to proceed with a community solar array Monday evening.

Staff have recommended they approve the necessary bylaws and finalize location and costs for the small pilot renewable energy project.

The proposed location would be next to the city’s Bonnington hydro station.

That is not a high-profile spot to visually market the project but it is very affordable to link the power to the grid there.

Interested residents could be asked to invest up to $4,000 in the solar garden and they’d get a rebate on their regular hydro bills.
