The BC Wildfire Service continues its efforts on the Sitkum – Duhamel Creek wildfire on the north shore of Kootenay Lake.
350 residents remain on evacuation alert.
Fire Information Officer Jordan Turner says the fire is mapped at a more accurate 300 hectares now but most growth Sunday was up the mountain.
A fire retardant line has been put down by aircraft and a specialist Complex Fire team is set to move on scene.
The fire has not shown any major movement towards properties after it grew quickly Saturday into Sunday.
9-mile resident Sue Stanger says most people were not overly-concerned over the weekend especially once the wind direction changed.
She says being on evacuation alert and packing a bag gives you lots of food for thought.
But it reminds you that life is everything while possessions can be replaced.
