Clean up your woody debris – be fire smart

The Nelson Fire Department says the West Arm wildfire is a good prompt to check around our property for woody debris.

Acting Captain Bob Patton says wildfires can create their own wind storms which can send burning embers as far as 4-kilometres depending on wind direction.

There have been reports of cinders and blackened woody debris spotted on the other side of the water from the Sitkum-Duhamel fire.
