Efforts to tackle the 380-hectare Sitkum-Duhamel Creek wildfire on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake are entering a new phase.
A specialist Incident Management Team are now on the ground.
Information Officer Noelle Kekula says the team has years of experience in dealing with interface fires.
49 firefighters in addition to the 10-person IMT team are on the fire along with heavy equipment and helicopters.
The team will work with local officials to set priority assets and strategies.
350 residences remain on evacuation alert although the fire has been moving up the mountain and away from homes the last few days.
